Listen, Lucy Assembly
As part of our commitment to student well-being, Central Valley High School welcomed local speaker and author Jordan Corcoran for a “Listen, Lucy,” a student assembly made possible through a Highmark Grant.
Corcoran shared her personal experiences, including challenges she faced during high school and the stigma and misconceptions surrounding mental health. Through her story of resilience and success, she encouraged students to recognize the importance of caring for their mental health and seeking support when needed.
Students also learned practical strategies for coping with difficult emotions, discussed the impact of social media on mental health, and were reminded of the trusted adults and resources available to them.
The assembly provided students with an important message: asking for help is a sign of strength, and no one has to face difficult challenges alone.
We are grateful to Highmark for supporting opportunities that promote student mental health, resilience, and overall well-being.
