Mr. Sam Cercone has been the Director of Athletics and Transportation in the Central Valley School District since July of 2011.

Mr. Cercone began his tenure in 1997 with the Monaca School District serving as a health and physical education teacher in grades K-12.  Mr. Cercone graduated from West Liberty University in May of 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in health and physical education.  He then earned a master’s degree in education / guidance counseling at Westminster College in 2003.  He also earned and became a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) in 2009.  Mr. Cercone is also a National Instructor for the Coaching Principles and Sports First Aid courses.  

During his time in the Monaca and Central Valley School Districts, Mr. Cercone served as a coach in baseball and football for 14 years as both an assistant and head coach.  Mr. Cercone is a current member of PSADA, NIAAA, the MAC Athletic Directors Association and the Southwest Conference Athletic Directors.  He was also the president of the MAC Athletic Directors Association for two years (2015 & 2016) as well as secretary (2014 & 2013).  He currently serves on the WPIAL Executive and Baseball Steering Committees.

Mr. Cercone resides in the Central Valley School District with his wife, Lindsay and their three children; Italia, Sammy, and Chase.
